My favorite lens is the 10-22 wide angle lens but at the Painted Hills there were opportunities to use a telephoto lens. The challenge was getting lines and shapes in balance.

Morning Fire

Have you ever seen a sunrise that is beyond the ordinary? One that dances with color, like flames of light moving as the sun rises. Sometimes simple documentation isn't enough to record what you are seeing.

My best source of ideas is the web and asking how did they do that followed by applying the technique to nature videos, if possible, using my basic equipment.  I came across this fascinating piece that has had over 600k views. Minimal motion, no sound, and only 30 seconds long but compelling!

Ice Fossils

The spring temperature fluctuations this week have made for some interesting morning macro shots.  This scene was   gone by noon and did not reform on the next evening freeze. My eye is torn between the round leaf on the left and the bright line on the right, stopping in the middle to look at the narrow leaf.  The line on the lower right seems to pull the round leaf and bright line together.  A lot to look at.
