While in Duluth we walked the Canal Park side of the jetty to see Duluth's night lights from a different perspective. It was also one of the only places we could find a parking space. On our way back the bridge was raised for a sail boat. This side of the canal is quiet and has very few visitors on it, try it the next time you are visiting Duluth.
Recorded at Crex Meadows where the sky can have incredibly intense color. Depending on the weather it can also be very, very flat. We were driving into Grantsburg at the end of the day and the sky became this phenomenal color, needless to say supper was postponed.
Technical: WB 6k, Saturation +2. The color almost exactly as seen.
I've been playing with light, both flash and flashlight, recently. For me the challenge is adding light without making its source the focus of attention. A flash would have spot lighted a small area of grass. This prairie shot was recorded as light was swept over the grass during a 13 second exposure at f 9, ISO 1250. To me this is a shot about color and lines. Stretching the limits is almost as exciting as walking out of the prairie in the dark.

We just returned from a week in Yellowstone Park and as everyone there is a lot of reviewing, reliving, and editing to do for the next couple weeks. This was our first trip during May and it was a beautiful time to go. The crowds were tolerable and wildlife is magical, as always in Yellowstone. My theme for the trip was "spring" and the shot list included water, young wildlife, and spring landscapes. I rarely photograph in the presence of others so being around tourists and other photographers was enlightening. I was reminded of the universal love of wildlife regardless of age, race, or nationality.
