Bison crossing Lamar River

This was one of those moments, actually several minutes, that will forever be in my mind. It was a "Serengeti" moment in the Yellowstone.  Images of wildebeests crossing flashed as I witnessed this event. I was alone at the river's edge watching this unfold. Another videographer was several yards behind me and there were cars on the road but I was alone with the herd as it crossed, almost in fact and definitely in spirit.

  1. interesting as you described. 4 yrs ago I was flying to LAX and sat with an unusually rich and adventurous man. He was from Australia and was travelling 'all around the world' with large custom made all wheel truck campers in a group of 4 trucks. He pulled out his lap top and showed me what they encountered on the 1000mile Gobi desert when a very large 'running' herd of antelope took an hour to cross in front of their caravan. Reminded me of the history book stories of buffalo herds taking hours to cross the tracks so the trains could go by? Amazing and thanks Dale.
